A local taxi is suspected to have lost control and rushed into a temple at the end of an alley, smashing the white horse statue at the entrance of the temple, and then knocking the iron gate and the altar in the temple. The accident also injured one person. The temple involved subsequently announced that it would suspend operations until further notice.

Netizens shared a video on the Singapore Road Accident page on Facebook today (16th), showing a taxi rushing into a temple.

According to the video, the temple involved is the Huaguoshan Qiyun Palace Monkey King Temple located on Marne Road in Jalan Besar. The temple is located at the end of the alley, with an office building on each side, and a higher embankment in front of the temple.

The taxi somehow rushed over the embankment and entered the temple, smashing the white horse statue placed at the entrance of the temple, and then smashing the table and altar in the temple. The wire gate, electric lights and many items in the temple were scattered all over the ground. The taxi's headlights were damaged and the license plate fell to the ground.

The temple later announced on its Facebook page that it had decided to temporarily close the temple until further notice in order to ensure the safety of its believers.

In response to Channel 8’s inquiry, the Singapore Civil Defence Force said it received the above report at 2:55 pm today and sent an injured person to Tan Tock Seng Hospital for treatment.

根据视频所见，涉及的神庙是位于惹兰勿刹一带玛安路（Marne Road）的花果山齐云宫齐天大圣庙。该庙宇位于巷子尽头，两旁分别各有一座办公楼，庙宇前方都有较高的路堤。

这架德士不知何故冲过路堤进入庙内，撞坏了庙口摆放的白马雕像，再往前撞坏庙内的桌子及神台。庙里的铁丝门、电灯及许多物品都被撞得散落满地。而德士车灯处受损，车牌掉在地上。

该庙随后在社媒Facebook专页里通知，为了确保信徒的安全，决定暂停开放庙宇，直到另行通知。

新加坡民防部队答复《8视界新闻网》询问时指出，民防部队在今天下午2点55分接获上述投报，并将一名伤者送往陈笃生医院治疗。

新加坡警察部队回复询问时指出，警方在下午2点50分接到报警，初步相信德士司机是车子自行打滑而冲入庙宇。事故造成一名49岁的女行人受伤，在神志清醒之下被送入医院治疗。

本地一辆德士疑似失控，冲入位于巷子尽头的庙宇，一路撞坏庙宇门口的白马雕像，再撞歪铁门及庙里的供桌，事故也造成一人受伤。涉事的庙宇随后宣布暂停开放，直到另行通知。

网民今天（16日）在社媒Facebook新加坡公路意外网页分享视频，显示一辆德士冲入庙宇内。

A 49-year-old woman was sent to hospital after a taxi smashed into the Far Kor Sun Monkey God Temple at Farrer Park in the afternoon on Jan. 16.

Police and the Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) told Mothership that they were alerted to the accident on Jan. 16 at around 2:50pm.

A taxi was believed to have self-skidded along Marne Road, police said.

The aftermath
Footage shared to the Singapore roads accident.com Facebook page showed that an SMRT taxi had mounted a kerb and crashed into the temple.

A few passersby had gathered.

The person who took the video wrote that he had been on his way to work when he saw what happened.

"I thought there was a movie shoot today... turned out that an accident occured," he added.

Temple closed until further notice
The temple also shared a video of the aftermath to its Facebook page.

It showed that the taxi had smashed through the temple's gate.

A ceiling light had been dislodged and was hanging by a wire.

Police were seen at the scene.

The temple wrote in the post that due to unforeseen circumstances and to ensure the safety of all devotees, the temple would be closed until further notice.

"We appreciate your concerns and understanding, and we aim to resume normal operations as soon as possible," the temple wrote.

Driver, 72, assisting with investigations
Police said that a 49-year-old female pedestrian was conveyed conscious to the hospital.

She was brought to Tan Tock Seng Hospital, SCDF said.

A 72-year-old male taxi driver is assisting with investigations.

Police investigations are ongoing.
